Lake Austin House - Austin, TX

The Lake Austin Home, nestled in the Terrytown suburbs of Austin, Texas, is a stunning 5-bedroom, 5 1/2-bath residence boasting a generous 9000 sq ft of living space. Originally constructed in 2009, its story took a captivating turn when the new owner decided to reimagine it in 2023. Our involvement began during the remodel, where we were enlisted by the interior designer and owner's representative to bring key features to life, with a primary focus on the formal dining area.

In collaboration with the interior designer, our team conceptualized and crafted a distinctive 5' round window. This window was destined to grace the existing stone wall, creating a seamless connection between the formal dining space and the stairwell. As the project unfolded, our attention shifted to producing a custom credenza tailored to complement the newly designed window. The interior designer envisioned an oak cabinet accented with brass, destined to house the owner's cherished record collection and wine storage. The crowning touch was a 3/4" thick solid brass top meticulously cut and fitted to the room's walls, with a rolled section embracing the elegant shape of the window, all meticulously hand-finished with an aged patina.

An integral element of the formal dining area was the main dining table, a piece that needed to harmonize with the room's ambiance and overarching vision. We were tasked with creating an adjustable-width dining table that seamlessly blended into the space. The table's base was meticulously crafted from 1/4" solid brass plates, laser-welded together with invisible seams. Connecting the two ends was a custom-built track system, ingeniously concealing all hardware and allowing the table halves to move simultaneously. The table's crowning glory was its top, crafted from 2" thick matched-grain walnut slabs, fortified with flush-mount metal bracing to prevent warping and ensure years of use. The entire ensemble, from window to credenza to table, was delivered and expertly installed by the skilled hands of the Blacksmith Sawyer team.
