The Glass House of Maryland, originally erected in 1987 by Leroy Marritt, a prominent business owner in the Baltimore area, has been a venue for numerous gatherings, parties, and weekend retreats for the Marrett family over the past 30 years. Following Leroy's passing, ownership of the property transitioned to his son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Sheila. Keen to pay homage to Leroy's original vision while infusing a modern aesthetic, the couple sought the expertise of Locust Grove Studio and Karlik Design, longstanding collaborators, who then engaged Blacksmith Sawyer Co. as a key partner for the project.
With a conceptual framework and vision in place, Locust Grove Studio and Karlik Design recognized the need for Blacksmith Sawyer Co.'s technical design and engineering proficiency to bring the vision to fruition. Once the designs were meticulously finalized, the execution proceeded seamlessly. Blacksmith Sawyer Co. played a pivotal role in every aspect of the transformation, from interior furniture and fixtures to exterior gates and railing, Blacksmith Sawyer Co. left an indelible mark on every room and every floor.
